Botafogo de João Pessoa, known as Belo, is the largest club in the state of Paraíba and one of the most traditional clubs in northeastern Brazil. With dozens of state titles and participation in national competitions, the club carries the passion of one of the most loyal fan bases in the interior of the country.

History

Founded on September 10, 1931 in the city of João Pessoa, capital of Paraíba, Botafogo de Futebol e Regatas quickly established itself as the main force in Paraíban football, accumulating titles from the Campeonato Paraibano over decades of uninterrupted competition. Estádio Amigão, officially called Estádio José Cavalcanti de Albuquerque, is the home of the club and the stage for the greatest victories in Belo's history, hosting classics that move all of Paraíba. Botafogo-PB's organized supporters are recognized for their fervor and loyalty even in the most difficult times. In national competitions, the club participated in the Copa do Nordeste in several editions, reaching advanced stages of the regional tournament. It also competed in Serie C and Serie D of the Brazilian Championship, fighting to keep the club in the upper divisions of national football. The rivalry with Treze Futebol Clube de Campina Grande is the most important in the state, generating one of the most intense classics in the Northeast. Games between the two clubs paralyze Paraíba and reveal the depth of passion for football in the region.
