Botafogo Football Club of Ribeirão Preto is one of the most traditional clubs in the interior of São Paulo state, a frequent participant in Series B and C of the Brazilian Championship. With no connection to Botafogo of Rio de Janeiro, the São Paulo club has built its own identity and has a loyal fan base in the interior of São Paulo.

History

Founded on February 1st, 1918 in Ribeirão Preto, Botafogo FC quickly became a reference in the regional football of São Paulo State. The club participated in several editions of Series B and C of the Brazilian Championship throughout its history, demonstrating consistency in the lower national divisions. Santa Cruz Stadium, its traditional home, has hosted memorable matches in the interior of São Paulo football. The club went through different phases throughout the twentieth century, with periods of glory in state football and constant struggles to remain in the national divisions. It developed and hired players who later played for clubs of greater significance, with Series C in 2022 and 2023 being its most recent moments of national prominence.
