Brazil Football Club
Brazil de Pelotas is a centennial club from Rio Grande do Sul, one of the pillars of Gaucho football and a frequent participant in the national divisions of the Brazilian Championship. The Pelotas classic against Esporte Clube Pelotas is one of the most traditional in southern Brazil.
History
Founded in 1911 in the city of Pelotas, in the far south of Rio Grande do Sul, Brasil Futebol Clube was born from an ideal of young football enthusiasts who wanted to give the city an alternative to the already existing Esporte Clube Pelotas. With red and white colors and the nickname 'Xavante', the club quickly gained prominence in Gaucho football. Throughout the 20th century, Brasil de Pelotas competed in successive editions of the Gaucho Championship, alternating periods of state prominence with historic campaigns in the national divisions. Bento Freitas Stadium, home of Pelotas football, was the stage for the club's greatest victories and fiercest classics. In the following decades, the club participated in the Series B and C of the Brazilian Championship, bringing the name of Pelotas to the national stage. Brasil de Pelotas remained a symbol of the city and the resistance of southern football against the major centers of the country, developing players who reached high-level football.
