O Brasiliense de 2002 foi vice-campeão da Copa do Brasil, ao perder a final para o Corinthians, e campeão da Série C, tudo apenas dois anos depois de sua fundação.
Brasiliense 2002
The 2002 Brasiliense was the team that, in just its second year of existence, reached the Brazilian Cup final and won the Series C championship. The season established the Federal District club as a prominent force in Brazilian football.
History
Brasiliense Futebol Clube was founded on August 1, 2000, when former senator Luís Estevão acquired the corporate name of a club associated with a furniture store. Based in Taguatinga, the team began playing its home matches at Boca do Jacaré. In 2002, the club experienced a historic season. In the Brazilian Cup, it eliminated traditional rivals and reached the final, where it was defeated by Corinthians. The runner-up finish placed the young club among the main talking points of Brazilian football that year. That same year, Brasiliense won the Series C, its first national title, and secured promotion to Series B in 2003. The rise continued in 2004, with the Series B championship, which took the club to Series A in 2005. In the top tier, however, the team finished in last place and was relegated.
