History

Founded on February 8, 2000 in Taguatinga, a satellite city in the Federal District, Brasiliense emerged as the great promise of Brasília football. In just a few years of existence, the club rose rapidly through the divisions of Brazilian football, securing promotion to the elite of the Brazilian Championship. The pinnacle of the club's history came in 2005 and 2006. In the 2005 Brazilian Championship, Brasiliense competed in Series A for the first time and surprised by surpassing traditional teams, securing a spot in the Copa Libertadores. The following year, the club participated in South America's premier club tournament and advanced to the quarterfinals, eliminating renowned continental opponents in a historic campaign. The Jacaré, as it is affectionately called, represents the football of the Brazilian cerrado and remains a reference in the Midwest, regularly competing in the lower divisions of the Brazilian Championship and the Brasiliense Championship, a competition it dominated in the 2000s.
