Stade Brestois 29
Breton club founded in 1950 from the merger of five local Catholic patronages. After decades in the lower divisions, it lived its most historic moment by securing an unprecedented place in the 2024-25 UEFA Champions League, reaching the round of 16 in the competition.
History
Stade Brestois 29 was founded in 1950 in the port city of Brest. Its initial peak occurred between 1981 and 1991, with consecutive seasons at the top of French football. After a long absence, it returned to Ligue 1 in 2019 and consolidated itself in the elite. In 2024-25, it became one of the biggest surprises in European football by competing in the league phase of the Champions League as France's representative, becoming a symbol that smaller clubs can compete at the highest level.
