Brusque Football Club
A club from the city of Brusque, located in the Vale do Itajaí region of Santa Catarina, founded in 1987 from the merger of local associations. It won the Campeonato Catarinense and competed in Serie B of the Brazilian Championship.
History
Brusque Football Club was born in 1987 in the city of Brusque, a textile hub in the Vale do Itajaí region of Santa Catarina, inheriting the football tradition of previous associations in the region, such as Carlos Renaux and the local Paysandu. During its early years, the club alternated participation in the Campeonato Catarinense and access divisions, without achieving stability. The turnaround came in the late 2010s, with an administrative restructuring that led the club to rise from Serie D to Serie C and then to Serie B of the Brazilian Championship. In 2022, Brusque won the Campeonato Catarinense, a state title of great significance for coming from a mid-sized city club against traditional rivals like Avaí, Figueirense, Criciúma, Chapecoense and Joinville. The achievement secured the club's participation in national competitions and solidified Estádio Augusto Bauer as a respected venue. Brusque came to be cited as an example of a mid-tier club capable of competing at the national level with long-term planning, despite facing fluctuations between divisions of the CBF in the following years.
