Clube Atlético Carlos Renaux

Clube Atlético Carlos Renaux is a historic club from Brusque, in Santa Catarina, founded in 1913 and named in honor of consul and textile industrialist Carlos Renaux. It was one of the great powers of Santa Catarina football in the early 1950s.

History

Clube Atlético Carlos Renaux was founded in 1913 in Brusque, a city in the Itajaí Valley marked by the textile industry, and received the name of consul Carlos Renaux, an industrialist who drove the growth of sports in the region. It is one of the oldest clubs in Santa Catarina, which earned it great prestige in the state's football. Its peak came in the early 1950s, when the club won the Santa Catarina Championship in 1950, 1951 and 1953, with striker Teixeirinha as its great idol, one of the greatest goalscorers in the history of Santa Catarina football. During this period, Carlos Renaux rivaled the state's leading teams and made Estádio Augusto Bauer its stronghold. As decades passed, the club lost strength in the professional scene. In 1987, the city's football was reorganized with the creation of Brusque Futebol Clube, which became the professional representative of the municipality and began using Estádio Augusto Bauer. Carlos Renaux, however, preserved its history and returned to competing in the lower divisions of Santa Catarina football in later years, keeping alive the memory of one of the pioneers of sport in the state.
