Casa Pia AC

Casa Pia Atlético Clube is a Portuguese football club from Lisbon, historically linked to the charity institution Casa Pia de Lisboa. It returned to the First League in the 2022-23 season after decades away from the elite of Portuguese football.

History

Founded in 1920 from the Casa Pia de Lisboa charity institution, the club spent most of its history competing in the lower divisions of Portuguese football. Despite its long tradition and century-old origins, Casa Pia rarely competed in the main national league. The great turnaround happened in the early 2020s, when the club underwent restructuring and investment, achieving successive promotions until reaching the First League in the 2022-23 season, ending decades away from the elite. Since then, Casa Pia has established itself as a competitive mid-table team, surprising traditional clubs and becoming one of the most notable stories in recent Portuguese football.
