History
The Club Deportivo Mirandés was founded in 1927 in Miranda de Ebro, a city in the autonomous community of Castile and León. Throughout most of its history, the club competed in the lower divisions of Spanish football and plays its home games at Estadio Municipal de Anduva. In the 2011-12 season, still in Segunda División B, the third division at the time, Mirandés had a historic Copa del Rey campaign. It eliminated Villarreal, Racing Santander and Espanyol and only stopped at the semi-final against Athletic Bilbao. In the same season, the club gained promotion to Segunda División, becoming a professional Spanish football club for the first time. In 2019-20, Mirandés repeated the feat in the Copa del Rey: it eliminated Celta de Vigo, Sevilla and Villarreal and reached the semi-final again, when it was eliminated by Real Sociedad.
