CD Santa Clara
Portuguese club based in Ponta Delgada, on the island of São Miguel, Azores, being the main representative of the Azores in the Portuguese First League.
History
CD Santa Clara was founded in 1926, in the city of Ponta Delgada, on the island of São Miguel, Azores. Throughout its history, the club has established itself as the main representative of the Azores archipelago in Portuguese professional football. For many decades, Santa Clara alternated between the lower divisions of Portuguese football, facing the natural logistical difficulties of an island club far from the mainland. The club achieved promotion to the First League on several occasions in recent decades, becoming a symbol of Azores representation in Portuguese national football and gaining recognition for its passionate fan base. Santa Clara hosted matches for seasons at São Miguel Stadium, and also used the Municipal Stadium of Angra do Heroísmo, on the island of Terceira, as a way to bring the club closer to the entire autonomous region of the Azores.
