History
Ceará Sporting Club was founded on June 2, 1914, in Fortaleza, and early established itself as one of the main forces in Ceará football. The black and white colors and the nickname Vozão identify the club and its large fanbase. Ceará's biggest classic is the Clássico-Rei, disputed against Fortaleza. The two clubs share the dominance of state football and have one of the most intense regional rivalries in Brazil. On the regional scene, the club won the Northeast Cup in 2015, one of the most important titles in its recent history. In the following years, Vozão returned to compete in Série A of the Brazilian Championship, where it competed from 2018 onwards and remained for several years among the country's main clubs. With Arena Castelão as home for big matches, Ceará maintains a large fanbase and a strong identity in northeastern football.
