Central Sport Club

Pernambuco club from Caruaru, one of the most traditional clubs in the interior of Pernambuco, with historic participation in the Pernambuco State Championship.

History

Founded in 1919 in the city of Caruaru, Central Sport Club is one of the oldest and most traditional clubs in the interior of Pernambuco, known by the nickname Lion of the Agreste in reference to the region where it is located. For decades, Central competed in the Pernambuco State Championship, alternating participations in the first and second state divisions, always with strong support from the local crowd in Caruaru, an important economic center in the agreste region of Pernambuco. The club also participated in national access competitions, such as Series D of the Brazilian Championship, keeping alive the tradition of football from the interior of the Northeast even in the face of the concentration of resources in the major clubs of Recife capital.
