History
Cienciano was founded in 1948 by medical students from Lima, hence the nickname 'Los Doctores'. The club rose in Peruvian football during the 1950s and established itself as a competitive force until the present day. It participated prominently in several editions of Copa Libertadores and Copa Sudamericana, marking a regular presence in international competitions. Won three Copa Sudamericana titles in 2003, 2004 and 2005, establishing itself as one of the most important clubs in modern Peru.
