Club Atletico Fenix was founded in 1916 in the neighborhood of Capurro, in Montevideo, and since then has alternated participation between the Primera Division and the Segunda Division of Uruguayan football. The club is known for developing players for Uruguayan football and for maintaining a loyal fan base despite not achieving major national titles. In recent years, Fenix returned to compete in the elite of Uruguayan football after promotion campaigns, consolidating itself as a traditional club in the Uruguayan capital.
