Colo-Colo Football and Rowing Club is a traditional club from Ilhéus, in southern Bahia. It is one of the few clubs in the interior of Bahia to conquer the state title, an achievement reached in 2006.
History
Founded in 1948 in the city of Ilhéus, Colo-Colo established itself as the main force in football in southern Bahia, a region historically linked to the cacao economy. The club plays its home matches at Estádio Mário Pessoa, one of the most traditional venues in the interior of Bahia. The highlight of its history came in 2006, when the club broke the capital's hegemony and won the Bahian Championship, becoming state champion for the first time. The conquest secured the club a spot in national competitions and gained projection throughout the state. In the following decades, Colo-Colo alternated participations between the first and second divisions of the Bahian Championship, maintaining itself as a reference in football of the cacao-growing region and a developer of athletes for larger clubs in the country.
