History
Club Atlético Colón was founded on May 31, 1905, in the city of Santa Fe, capital of the homonymous province, becoming throughout the twentieth century one of the most beloved and popular clubs in Argentine football. A traditional member of Argentina's Primera División, Sabaleiro accumulated decades of history without ever winning a national title, which made each championship an epic quest for its fans. The club plays its matches at Estadio Brigadier General Estanislao López, an arena with a capacity of more than 22,000 fans, a venue for great moments in the club's and the city of Santa Fe's history. Over the years, Colón participated in international competitions such as the Copa Libertadores and Copa Sudamericana, reaching the final stages in some editions and showing quality beyond Argentine borders. The historic moment came in 2021, when Colón won the Copa de la Liga Profesional Argentina, defeating Racing Club in the final and winning its first national title after 116 years of existence. The celebration in Santa Fe was compared to a World Cup party, such was the relief and joy of fans who waited patiently for their first great achievement in history.
