History
Colorado Rapids was one of the founding clubs of Major League Soccer in 1996, representing the state of Colorado since the creation of the professional league in the United States. In its early years, it played its matches in university stadiums and American football fields before getting its own home. In 2007, the club began playing its matches at Dick's Sporting Goods Park, a stadium built specifically for soccer in the Denver area. In 2010, Colorado Rapids experienced the most important moment in its history by winning the MLS Cup, the highest title in the North American league. Since then, the club has alternated playoff qualification seasons with reconstruction periods, establishing itself as one of the traditional franchises in the MLS Western Conference.
