Comercial Futebol Clube

Comercial Futebol Clube is a traditional club from the interior of São Paulo state, founded in 1911 in Ribeirão Preto. With a strong presence in the São Paulo State Championship throughout the twentieth century, the club is a symbol of football in the interior of São Paulo.

History

Founded on November 5, 1911 in Ribeirão Preto, Comercial FC was born in one of the most prosperous regions of São Paulo state, driven by coffee culture. The club quickly established itself as one of the leading forces in football in the interior of São Paulo, winning support and titles over the decades. In its early decades, Comercial competed in the São Paulo State Championship regularly, being one of the most traditional representatives from the Ribeirão Preto region. Its rivalry with other clubs in the city, such as Botafogo-SP and local Guarani, forged intense classics that marked generations of fans. The club participated in the Brazilian Championship in lower divisions throughout the 1970s to 1990s, representing the football of São Paulo's interior on the national stage. The Dr. Augusto Schmidt Filho Stadium, popularly known as Schmidtão, was the stage for the club's greatest achievements. In the twenty-first century, Comercial went through periods of financial instability, alternating between divisions of São Paulo football. However, its centennial history and loyal fan base keep alive the legacy of one of the most traditional clubs in the interior of São Paulo.
