Corinthians 1941
Corinthians in 1941 won the Campeonato Paulista, the club's fourth state title in five years. The team closed the victorious cycle that began in 1937, when Timão established itself as the greatest force in São Paulo football of that era.
History
Between 1937 and 1941, Corinthians won four Campeonato Paulista titles: 1937, 1938, 1939, and 1941. This was the period in which the club consolidated the professional structure begun in the previous decade and made Parque São Jorge its home. The attack of that generation had Teleco as one of its greatest symbols. A center forward with exceptional finishing ability, he became one of the greatest scorers in Corinthians' history and a reference for the team in the 1930s and 1940s. After the 1941 title, Corinthians would experience a long period without state titles, not winning the Paulista again until 1951, already with a different generation. For this reason, the 1941 conquest is remembered as the end of one of the most victorious cycles of the first half of the twentieth century. The rivalry with Palestra Itália, São Paulo, and Portuguesa marked the São Paulo football scene of the period, played in stadiums such as Parque Antarctica and Pacaembu, inaugurated in 1940.
