O Corinthians de 1997 foi campeão paulista e integrou o ciclo vitorioso dos anos 1990 que antecedeu os títulos brasileiros de 1998 e 1999.
Corinthians 1997
The 1997 Corinthians team was Paulista champion and consolidated the victorious phase of the club in the second half of the 1990s, between the Copa do Brasil in 1995 and the Brazilian titles in 1998 and 1999.
History
The 1997 season is part of Corinthians' most victorious cycle before the 2000 Club World Cup. The team came from two important titles in 1995, the Paulista Championship and the Copa do Brasil, and confirmed its strength in the state championship by winning the 1997 Paulista title. Midfielder Marcelinho Carioca was one of the main references of the squad at the time, marked by his set pieces and technical leadership. The 1997 state title preceded the 1998 Brazilian Championship, the first in Corinthians' history, and the 1999 back-to-back national championship, which would take the club to the FIFA Club World Cup in 2000.
