Coritiba 2011-2012

Coritiba in 2011 and 2012 established a world record of 24 consecutive wins and reached two consecutive Copa do Brasil finals. The team was twice Paraná state champion during this period.

History

After returning to Serie A, Coritiba began the 2011 season with a historic streak. Under coach Marcelo Oliveira, the team won 24 consecutive matches between the Paraná State Championship and Copa do Brasil, a feat recognized by Guinness as the world record for consecutive wins in professional football. The streak led Coxa to the 2011 Paraná state title and the Copa do Brasil final that same year. In the decision, Coritiba lost the first leg to Vasco 1-0 in Rio de Janeiro, a result that ended the unbeaten streak, and drew 3-3 at Couto Pereira, finishing as runners-up. In 2012, the club repeated the state title and returned to the Copa do Brasil final, this time against Palmeiras. A 2-0 defeat in São Paulo and a 1-1 draw in Curitiba gave Coritiba the second consecutive runner-up finish. Players like Alex, Everton Ribeiro, Bill, Rafinha, Leonardo, and Davi marked this generation.
