History

The Coritiba Foot Ball Club was founded on October 12, 1909, in Curitiba, by members of the city's German community. The club established itself as one of the greatest forces in Paraná football throughout the 20th century. The greatest national title came in 1985, when Coritiba won the Brazilian Championship by defeating Bangu in the final on penalties, after a 1-1 draw in regular time. It was the club's only conquest of Series A. Coxa also won the Brazilian Championship Series B in 2007 and 2010, returning to the elite of Brazilian football on both occasions. Its stadium, Couto Pereira, has been the club's main home since the 1950s.
