Cruz Azul Fútbol Club
Cruz Azul is one of the most popular and traditional clubs in Mexico, born as a team of a cement cooperative in Jasso, Hidalgo. Moved to Mexico City in the 1970s, it became a giant of Mexican football. It is known by the nickname 'La Máquina' and for its fervent fanbase.
History
Cruz Azul has accumulated nine titles of the Mexican Championship throughout its history, with most of them won in the 1960s and 1970s. The club spent decades finishing as runner-up in important tournaments before finally breaking the drought and winning the Clausura 2021. It is also a multiple champion of the CONCACAF Champions League. Its rivalry with América is one of the most intense in continental football.
