Cuiabá Esporte Clube is the main representative of football in Mato Grosso, with consecutive appearances in the elite of Brazilian football in the 2020s.
History
Founded in 2001, Cuiabá Esporte Clube was born with the objective of professionalizing football in Mato Grosso. In its early years, it competed mainly in regional competitions and in Series D and C of the Brazilian Championship. The club's major breakthrough came from 2020 onwards, when it achieved promotion to Series A for the first time in its history, surprising the national scene by remaining competitive among the country's top clubs. Hosting its matches at Arena Pantanal, built for the 2014 FIFA World Cup, Dourado became a symbol of regional growth in Brazilian football.
