FC Dynamo Minsk

FC Dynamo Minsk is a Belarusian club and Soviet champion in 1982. Founded on June 18, 1927, it has won nine Belarusian league titles and plays its home matches at Dynamo Stadium in Minsk.

History

Dynamo Minsk was founded on June 18, 1927, as part of the Soviet sports society Dynamo. It was the only Belarusian club of the Soviet era to play in the top division of the USSR, present in 39 of the 54 seasons of the competition. The peak came in 1982 with the conquest of the Soviet League. In the European Cup of 1983-84, in its debut, the team eliminated Grasshopper and Győri ETO and fell in the quarterfinals against Dynamo Bucharest. The club was also runner-up of the Soviet Cup in 1965 and 1986-87. With the independence of Belarus, Dynamo won the first edition of the national league in 1992 and accumulated titles afterward. After a period of scarcity in the 2000s, it became in 2014 the second club in the country to reach the group stage of the Europa League, after BATE Borisov. It became national champion again in 2023 and 2024.
