Dinamo Tbilisi

Georgia's most traditional club, European Cup Winners' Cup champion in 1981 while still under Soviet Union, a historical reference in Caucasian football.

History

Founded in 1925 in Tbilisi, Dinamo is Georgia's internationally most prestigious club. During the Soviet period, it was one of the few clubs outside Russia to win major titles, culminating in the historic achievement of the 1981 European Cup Winners' Cup, defeating Carl Zeiss Jena in the final. With Georgia's independence in 1991, Dinamo Tbilisi became the dominant club in national football, accumulating dozens of titles in the Georgian Championship and Georgian Cup, playing their home matches at Boris Paichadze Dinamo Arena in the Georgian capital. The club is also recognized for developing talent that stood out in the Georgian national team and in European leagues, maintaining a strong tradition in youth development.
