History
Founded in 1891 in Stockholm, Djurgardens IF is a multisport club whose football section became one of the most successful in Swedish history. The club won its first national title in the first half of the 20th century and has since maintained itself among the main forces of Swedish football. In the 2000s, Djurgarden experienced one of its most victorious periods, winning titles in the Allsvenskan and the Swedish Cup, in addition to regularly competing in European competitions. The club also stood out for revealing players who later played in major leagues in Europe. With the stadium change to the Tele2 Arena in 2013, sharing the home with rival Hammarby, Djurgarden remains one of the most traditional clubs and with the largest fan base in the Swedish capital, maintaining a strong presence in national competitions.
