Dukla Prague
Military club from Prague that dominated Czechoslovak football in the 1950s and 1960s. Won 11 national titles and reached the semi-finals of the European Cup in 1966-67.
History
The club was founded in 1948 as a Czechoslovak army team and in 1953 changed its name to Ústřední dům armády (ÚDA) Praha, the year of its first national title. Later it adopted the name Dukla, linked to the military, and made Juliska Stadium in Prague its home. During the 1950s and 1960s, Dukla was the greatest power in Czechoslovak football. In total, it won 11 national championships and eight editions of the Czechoslovak Cup. Midfielder Josef Masopust, elected Europe's best player in 1962, was the great symbol of that generation. In the 1966-67 season, Dukla reached the semi-finals of the European Cup, when it was eliminated by Celtic, champions of that edition.
