Esporte Clube Macapá

Esporte Clube Macapá

Esporte Clube Macapá is one of the most traditional clubs in Amapá football, with a strong historical rivalry with Amapá Clube in the Clássico Vovô.

History

Founded on June 18, 1944, initially under the name Panair Esporte Clube, the team adopted its current name in 1946. Throughout its trajectory, it won 17 Amapá State Championship titles, establishing itself as one of the greatest forces in the state. In 1975, the club made history by becoming the first team to win the old Copão da Amazônia, a tournament disputed among teams from the states of the North Region. The achievement expanded Macapá's prestige beyond Amapá's borders. In 1992, the club competed in the Brazilian Championship Serie C, marking one of its main participations in national competitions. Macapá maintains its tradition centered on amateur and professional base football in the state.
