History

São José Sports Club was founded on March 15, 1933 in the city of São José dos Campos, in the interior of São Paulo state. In its first decades, it competed in amateur regional competitions in the Paraíba Valley before professionalizing football and joining the divisions organized by the São Paulo Football Federation. The club began playing its home matches at Estádio Municipal Martins Pereira, inaugurated in the 1970s, which became its main venue. From the 1980s onwards, São José experienced its strongest period, reaching the elite level of the São Paulo State Championship and national competitions organized by the CBF. In the following decades, the team alternated campaigns between the first division and the secondary divisions of São Paulo football, maintaining itself as one of the main sports references in the Paraíba Valley. The club's youth academy also became known for developing players who were picked up by larger teams. Currently, the Eagle of the Valley continues to compete in the competitions organized by the São Paulo Football Federation, with strong regional identification in São José dos Campos and neighboring cities.
