History
Founded in 1900, Espanyol is the second oldest club in Catalonia and one of Spain's most traditional clubs. The club played in two UEFA Cup finals, in 1988 and 2007, coming close to winning a European title — losing both in penalty shootouts. Throughout the century, Espanyol developed important players and competed consistently in La Liga. Despite living in Barcelona's shadow, the club maintains its unique identity and a loyal fanbase that spans generations.
