History
Founded on December 27, 1935, Esporte Clube Caxias was born from the passion of Italian immigrant communities settled in the Gaucho Mountains. Throughout its history, the club established itself as the greatest football power outside the metropolitan region of Porto Alegre, frequently challenging the giants Gremio and Internacional. The Lion of the Mountains accumulated multiple Rio Grande do Sul Championship titles, with an impressive sequence of victories in the 1990s and early 2000s. The finals against major Porto Alegre clubs generated unforgettable classics and consolidated the rivalry that defines Rio Grande do Sul football. The club also competed in Serie B of the Brazilian Championship and participated in editions of the Brazil Cup and South American Cup, demonstrating quality beyond state divisions. The Centenary Stadium, located in the heart of Caxias do Sul, is one of the most modern in the southern interior of Brazil. Despite financial difficulties common to medium-sized clubs, Esporte Clube Caxias maintains its passionate fan base and continues as the main symbol of Gaucho mountain football.
