History
Esporte Clube de Patos was founded on July 7, 1952 by former athletes from the extinct Botafogo de Patos. The founders were admirers of Pernambuco football. For this reason, the club adopted a name similar to Sport Club do Recife and uniforms similar to Clube Náutico Capibaribe. The club's colors are red and white, which earned it the nickname Alvirrubro. It is also called Terror of the Sertão and Patinho do Sertão. The club plays its matches at José Cavalcanti Stadium, which has a capacity of around 11,000 people. Esporte won the Paraíba Second Division Championship in 2005, 2013, 2015, and 2018. A remarkable episode occurred on September 7, 1973. During a tour through the interior of Brazil, legendary Garrincha wore the club's shirt in a festive match.
