History

Founded in 1939 in Estoril, next to the Atlantic Ocean and close to the town of Cascais, Grupo Desportivo Estoril Praia built throughout the decades a history marked by dedication to Portuguese football. The club has always represented with distinction the coastal region of Greater Lisbon in the national sports scene. The highest point in Estoril's recent history was the conquest of the Portuguese Second League in the 2011-12 season, which projected the club back to the elite of national football. During this period, the Canaries also participated in the UEFA Europa League, gaining admirers beyond borders. The António Coimbra da Mota Stadium, inaugurated in 1967 and remodeled over the years, is the symbol and home of the club. With capacity for over 7,000 spectators, the stadium witnessed the great victories in Estoril's history and continues to be the stage for remarkable matches in Portuguese football.
