Everton de Viña del Mar

Chilean club founded by British immigrants in Viña del Mar, one of the historic teams of Chilean football with four national titles.

History

Everton de Viña del Mar was founded in 1909 by English immigrants, taking its name in homage to the English club Everton FC. It became one of the most traditional clubs in Chilean football, with a strong identity linked to the beach city of Viña del Mar. The club won the Chilean Championship in 1950, 1952, 1976 and 2008 (Clausura Tournament), being one of the most historic teams among clubs outside Santiago. It plays its matches at Estadio Sausalito, with capacity for around 21,000 fans. Known by the nickname Ruleteros, Everton maintains regional rivalry with Santiago Wanderers, disputing the traditional Clásico Porteño-Viñamarino.
