History

FC Lugano was founded in 1908 in the Italian-speaking region of Switzerland. Its white and black uniform earned it the nickname Bianconeri, and the club plays its home matches at Stadio di Cornaredo. The most successful period in the national championship occurred between the 1930s and 1940s, with Swiss titles in 1938, 1941 and 1949. In the Swiss Cup, the club won in 1931, 1968, 1993 and 2022. After periods in lower divisions, Lugano re-established itself in the elite of Swiss football and began to compete in European competitions, becoming the main team in Ticino.
