FC Porto B
FC Porto's B team, created to develop young players in Portuguese professional competitions.
History
FC Porto B was created in the late 1990s as an intermediate stage between the academy and the main squad of the Porto club, following a model already adopted by major European clubs. The team competed in the Portuguese Second Division in different periods, with interruptions according to changes in the regulations of the Portuguese League regarding B team participation, and began training and playing at the Olival complex, the club's training center. Its main function has always been to provide competitive minutes to young players before promotion to the main team or loan moves, establishing itself as a key part of a formation structure considered one of Portugal's most productive.
