FC Seoul is one of the most traditional clubs in South Korea, based in the capital Seoul. It is one of the most popular teams in the country and competes in the K League 1.

History

The club was founded in 1983 as Lucky-Goldstar Hwangso, linked to the LG conglomerate, changing its name and headquarters several times until permanently establishing itself in Seoul in 2004, when it became FC Seoul. Since the move to the capital, the club became one of the most popular in South Korea, winning multiple K League titles and competing in continental AFC competitions. FC Seoul played its matches at Seoul World Cup Stadium, with a capacity of over 60,000 fans, built for the 2002 World Cup, and maintains a historic rivalry with Suwon Samsung Bluewings.
