FC Sion

Traditional club from Switzerland, FC Sion is famous for its almost perfect record in Swiss Cup finals, having won the competition on several occasions.

History

FC Sion was founded in 1909 in the city of Sion, capital of the canton of Valais, in Switzerland. With red and white colors, the club plays its home matches at Stade Tourbillon and is the main representative of the region in Swiss football. The club won the Swiss Championship on two occasions, in the seasons 1991-92 and 1996-97, but became world-famous for its tradition in the Swiss Cup, a competition it won 13 times, maintaining for decades a record of invincibility in finals. In Europe, Sion competed in continental competitions such as the UEFA Cup and the preliminary round of the Champions League, playing remarkable matches against clubs of greater prominence. Under the command of president Christian Constantin since the 2000s, the club experienced periods of instability, including a relegation in 2022, but returned to the elite of Swiss football, maintaining its historical relevance in the country.
