FC Utrecht
FC Utrecht is the main club in the fourth-largest city in the Netherlands, founded in 1970 from the merger of three local clubs. The club has a strong identity linked to the university city of Utrecht, and its fans are known for their passion in the stands of Galgenwaard. Despite not having the same history as Ajax, PSV and Feyenoord, Utrecht is a constant competitor in the top positions of the Eredivisie.
History
FC Utrecht won the Dutch Cup three times, in 1985, 1993 and 2004, being its greatest achievement at the national level. The club participated in several editions of the UEFA Cup and UEFA Europa League, representing the Netherlands with dignity on the continent. In recent years, Utrecht has been a talent factory, selling players to the main European clubs. Galgenwaard, renovated in the 1990s and 2000s, is a compact stadium with a great atmosphere, located in the heart of the city.
