Club Ferro Carril Oeste
Ferro Carril Oeste is a club from Buenos Aires, in the Caballito neighborhood, founded on July 28, 1904 by employees of the Buenos Aires Western Railway. It was Argentine champion in 1982 and 1984, under the command of Carlos Timoteo Griguol.
History
The Club Atlético del Ferrocarril Oeste de Buenos Aires was founded on July 28, 1904 by about one hundred employees of the Buenos Aires Western Railway company, from which the club's name and its connection to the Caballito neighborhood come from. In 1905, the club built its own stadium, financed by its main founding partner, David Simpson. The venue, which since 1995 has been called Estadio Arquitecto Ricardo Etcheverri, is considered the oldest football stadium still in use in Argentina. The most glorious period came in the early 1980s, with the team led by Carlos Timoteo Griguol, who won the National Championship in 1982 and 1984, the club's two first division titles.
