Ferroviário Athletic Club

Ferroviário Athletic Club is one of the most traditional clubs in Ceará football, founded by workers from the Rede de Viação Cearense in 1933. Known as the 'Shark of Barra', it is one of the greatest champions of the Campeonato Cearense and a symbol of popular football in the Northeast.

History

Founded on August 21, 1933 by railway workers from Fortaleza, the club was born with a strong working-class identity and quickly gained relevance in the state scene. In the 1940s and 1950s, Ferroviário experienced its golden era, dominating the Campeonato Cearense and accumulating titles that consolidated its tradition. The club was the starting point for various careers in northeastern football and maintained throughout the decades a loyal fan base in the suburbs of Fortaleza. In the 2000s and 2010s, Ferroviário was reborn competitively, competing in the Série C of the Brazilian Championship and winning new state titles. Estádio Elzir Cabral, its home stadium, is one of the most historic venues in Ceará football still in operation.
