History
Founded on July 19, 1933 by employees of the Federal Railway Network, Ferroviário is one of the most historic clubs in Cearan football. Based in the Barra do Ceará neighborhood in Fortaleza, the Shark built a base of loyal supporters over decades of northeastern football. The club won titles in the Campeonato Cearense and became a frequent presence in the Copa do Nordeste, a competition in which it made historic campaigns in the late 2010s. In 2019 and 2020, Ferroviário reached advanced stages of the regional tournament, surprising rivals with greater financial structure. In the 2010s, the club rose to Serie C of the Campeonato Brasileiro, consolidating itself as a representative of Cearan football beyond state borders. Its combative style of play and identification with the Barra do Ceará community make Ferroviário a symbol of resistance and tradition.
