Ferroviário da Paraíba

Ferroviário da Paraíba is a historic football club from João Pessoa, state of Paraíba, Brazil. Founded in 1937, it was one of the main clubs in the region, competing in the Paraíba State Championship for decades.

History

Ferroviário da Paraíba was founded in 1937 as a result of the integration of railway workers who wished to form a team to represent the working class of the region. During the 1940s and 1950s, it was a powerhouse of Paraíba football, competing for state titles with rivals such as Sport Recife and Nacional. Based in João Pessoa, it wore a black and white uniform and won several regional championships. Over the decades, it faced economic difficulties common to inland clubs, but maintained its tradition in Paraíba football. Estádio Presidente Vargas was its historic home.
