Ferroviário de Tubarão was founded in 1913 and became one of the main clubs in the state of Santa Catarina. The team won several state titles and participated in Brazilian competitions, experiencing its heyday during the 1970-1990s when it competed in top divisions of national football. In the 2000s, it faced periods of financial difficulty, but remains active and present in Santa Catarina's state competitions, maintaining its regional importance.
