Feyenoord 1970
The 1970 Feyenoord was the first Dutch club to win the European Cup and, in the same year, won the Intercontinental Cup against Estudiantes.
History
Managed by Austrian coach Ernst Happel, Feyenoord reached the 1969-70 European Cup final and faced Celtic, the 1967 champions, at the San Siro stadium in Milan. In the final, held on May 6, 1970, Feyenoord won 2-1 after extra time. Gemmell opened the scoring for Celtic, Rinus Israël equalized, and Swedish striker Ove Kindvall scored the winning goal at 117 minutes. The squad featured players such as Wim van Hanegem, Wim Jansen, Franz Hasil, and Coen Moulijn, and the title paved the way for the European era of Dutch football, followed by Ajax's achievements from 1971 onwards. At the end of 1970, the team also won the Intercontinental Cup by defeating Estudiantes, the Copa Libertadores champion, 3-2 on aggregate.
