Flamengo 2024
Flamengo in 2024 won the Campeonato Carioca and the Copa do Brasil, the latter against Atlético-MG, in a season marked by a change in coaching staff. The squad featured players such as Gabigol, Pedro, Arrascaeta and Gerson.
History
Flamengo's 2024 season began under the command of Tite, who had taken over the club in October 2023. With him, the team won the 2024 Campeonato Carioca, maintaining the red-and-black dominance in the state championship. In the middle of the year, the club played in the Copa Libertadores, being eliminated in the quarterfinals by Peñarol. The Brazilian Championship continued with Botafogo, Palmeiras and Fortaleza among the leaders, and Flamengo was left out of the title race. Tite was fired in September 2024 and Filipe Luís, a former left-back and club idol, took over the team. Under new management, Flamengo reached the Copa do Brasil final and overcame Atlético-MG, winning the 2024 trophy. The title consolidated the Copa do Brasil as one of the most won competitions by the club, which had already lifted the trophy in 1990, 2006, 2013 and 2022. Gabigol, who ended his contract at the end of the season, Pedro, Arrascaeta and Gerson were central figures in the campaign.
