History
Floresta Esporte Clube was born in 1947 in the city of Horizonte, in the interior of Ceará, initially competing only in regional competitions for decades. During most of its existence, the club remained restricted to the state football scene, participating in the Cearense Championship without major national prominence. The turning point came from 2018 onwards, when the club began an upward trajectory in the access divisions of Brazilian football. In 2019, Floresta achieved promotion to Serie C of the Brazilian Championship, a historic feat for an inland club in the Northeast. The 2022 season marked the pinnacle of the club's history: Floresta was promoted to Serie B of the Brasileirão for the first time, becoming one of the few clubs from the interior of the Northeast to compete in the national second division. The achievement represented a landmark for Cearense football beyond the boundaries of Fortaleza. The club plays its matches at Estádio Domingão, in Horizonte, and is considered a model of sustainable management in Brazilian football's access divisions, inspiring other inland clubs to invest in sports development.
