Fluminense 1964
In 1964, Fluminense won the Campeonato Carioca that year. The squad featured goalkeeper Castilho and midfielder Telê Santana, two of the club's greatest idols of that era.
History
Fluminense Football Club was founded on July 21, 1902, by Oscar Cox, and is one of the most traditional clubs in Brazilian football. In the 1950s and 1960s, the team maintained a constant presence in the Campeonato Carioca and Torneio Rio-São Paulo competitions. In 1964, the Tricolor became the state champion. The squad brought together goalkeeper Castilho, who defended the club for almost two decades, and Telê Santana, a player of great tactical intelligence who would later achieve recognition as a coach. The 1964 conquest is part of the club's victorious trajectory in Rio de Janeiro state football and is remembered as one of the titles of this generation of idols from Laranjeiras.
